Founding Partner Evie Jeang appeared on Chinese TV Channel 18 on December 17, 2014, discussing Worker’s Compensation Laws and how they affect small businesses. She states, “Cumulative injury or repetitive trauma refers to gradual onset of injury to some part of the body caused by repeated job activities. The cumulative injury or repetitive trauma is difficult to identify because it is not always an apparent injury. You cannot connect the cumulative injury to a specific event or a specific date of injury.” She also briefly discusses acute injuries and how this differs from cumulative injury. Evie Jeang Comments on the West Hollywood Shooting of an Innocent Victim on SkyLink News

Managing Partner Evie Jeang appeared on SkyLink News, a local Chinese TV news station, commenting on the West Hollywood shooting, where John Winkler was mistakenly and fatally shot by Los Angeles County sheriff deputies. At the time of the incident, Winkler was trying to rescue a friend who was being stabbed at his apartment, and as they both exited the building where the police were waiting, three deputies believed that Winkler was lunging after the wounded friend and fired at Winkler.
Ms. Jeang comments on the issues that are not being addressed, such as why the police would use deadly force before figuring out what the situation was. “Three officers shot the person, and it seems odd there is not much uproar about this,” says Ms. Jeang. “There should be better protocols when scenarios like this occur to help protect innocent persons.”

Evie Jeang to Participate in Sports Law Association Outreach Panel

Managing Partner Evie Jeang will participate on a panel discussing family law as it relates to professional athletes, hosted by the Sports Law Association (SLA) on February 21, 2014 at the Law Offices of Loeb & Loeb in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Jeang will discuss common family law issues involving athletes and how to best represent the client. The panel will also feature Lou Shapiro, a criminal law attorney, who will discuss how to handle criminal charges on behalf of athletes. This event will be held at 2:00 pm.
Established in 1975, SLA is comprised of more than 1,000 professional members including law educators, practicing lawyers, students and other professionals. This non-profit, international organization provides educational and networking opportunities focusing on sports law.

Evie Jeang Discusses the Challenges of Practicing Family Law on the Chinese TV Station LA 360

Managing partner Evie Jeang was featured on the Chinese TV LA 360 station discussing how she started practicing family law. Ms. Jeang explains that family law is a practice that encompasses a broad range of challenges that families face, largely ruled by statutes and laws that vary from state to state.
“The most common family law questions relate to issues leading up to and following a divorce, including child support, legal separation and dissolution proceedings. Even adoption and paternity issues need to be resolved in court,” said Ms. Jeang.

Ms. Jeang also touches on the personal side of practicing family law, including aiding clients during traumatic events. “You are more than a just a lawyer – you act as counselor to your client in assessing and advising them on their legal rights.”

Evie Jeang Discusses California Worker’s Compensation Laws on the Chinese TV Station LA 360

Ms. Evie Jeang was featured on the Chinese TV LA 360 Station discussing worker’s compensation laws and the rights afforded to employees under the California Labor Code. Ms. Jeang advises that if you are injured at work, your worker’s compensation can pay for medical treatment, living expenses and in some cases, permanent disability payments.

“If you get hurt at work you should not have to pay for medical care. My clients have their medical care paid for by the insurance companies or by their employers,” said Ms. Jeang.

Managing Partner Evie Jeang will speak at the program, “Domestic Violence Defense: Trial Strategies from Criminal and Family Law Practitioners,” at the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Barristers Workshop on May 7, 2013 in Beverly Hills, CA. The program will analyze special police reports, jury instructions, voir dire, temporary restraining order process and particular strategies to attain advantageous results for clients.

The Barristers division of the Beverly Hills Bar Association provides networking activities, community service programs and pro bono opportunities to attorneys active in community involvement.

Evie Jeang Serves as Featured Speaker at Protect & Grow Seminar

Managing Partner Evie Jeang was a featured speaker at the Protect & Grow Seminar on July 12, 2012 in Rowland Heights, CA. Ms. Jeang’s presentation, “New Flexibility for Employers on Meal and Rest Period Requirements,” discussed the impact of the recent California Supreme Court decision which clarifies an employer’s duties regarding mandated meal and rest periods for non-exempt businesses.

The seminar covered a range of topics, including ways to minimize chances of an IRS audit, disclosure changes for corporate retirement plans and how small businesses should adapt to recent labor law changes.

Evie Jeang Appointed Spokesperson for Asian Pacific American Legal Center

Managing Partner Evie Jeang was appointed spokesperson for the Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC) in a recent press conference. During the press conference, Ideal Legal Group and APALC announced their partnership to assist with a mediation program for low-income Asian and Pacific Islander clients.
